The Rowlands was in the north west corner of Swanington, so close to Coleorton that some people would have felt it was part of that village. The Rowlands was just to the south of the tip of the Thringstone finger of land between Swannington and Coleorton that included what is now Hough Mill. Former Baptist Chapel - The Beaumonts of Coleorton Hall resisted the building of nonconformist chapels within the parish of Coleorton. As a result Coleorton Baptist Chapel was built just outside the parish in The Rowlands which is part of Swannington. The chapel closed just after the millennium and is now a private house.
