Swannington Heritage Trust has gained an Innovation in Museums Displays grant to carry out this participative project. While the Trust will provide the initial content the direction and further content will be determined by people with an interest in the history of Swannington, such as current and former residents.
Although the prime focus of this project is the decade leading up to and including the First World War, the secondary objective is to gather information on what has happened to the village in living memory. If you live, have lived or visited Swannington you will have memories that can contribute to this project.
We do not know what memories, photographs and documents YOU will be able to contribute and it is these contributions, plus your reactions to the displays that will determine the ultimate direction of the project.
The project comprises:
Indoor Exhibition Saturday 29th March 2014 (see Exhibitions tab) in Swannington School
Outdoor Exhibition Sunday 16th to Sunday 30th March (see Exhibitions tab) when you can explore all or part of the main road through Swannington to find out about the people who lived there in 1911.
Night event at Hough Mill (date to be determined) If you have photographs, documents or memories that could contribute to this project please get in touch with us by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 01530 222 833. If you would like to join our friendly team and help with research, putting up posters, serving teas, staffing the exhibition etc. we would also like to hear from you.
